Chateau Chantal is a unique destination that combines a working winery, vineyards, and a luxury Bed & Breakfast on Old Mission Peninsula near Traverse City, Michigan. Perched atop one of the highest points on the peninsula, Chateau Chantal offers breathtaking views of both East and West Grand Traverse Bay.
Is breakfast included with my stay?
Yes. A complimentary breakfast is for all guests at 8:30am in the Chateau’s 2,000 sq ft Hospitality Room. Freshly prepared each morning, breakfast highlights seasonal ingredients and Northern Michigan flavors and is one of the signature experiences of the Bed & Breakfast.
Coffee, tea, and beverages will be available in this room starting at 7:00am.
Can dietary restrictions be accommodated?
Whenever possible, we are happy to accommodate dietary needs and food allergies with advance notice. Please inform us when making your reservation.
How much do overnight stays cost?
Depending on the season, day of the week, and room selection, prices start at $250 and include a gourmet breakfast, wine, and use of the Chateau’s two fireplace areas. Special discounts on wine are also included, and the B&B offers the following discount programs: https://www.chateauchantal.com/stay/
What time is check-in and check-out?
- Check-in: 3:00 pm

Guests will receive complete arrival instructions before their stay. If you anticipate arriving late, please contact the Front Desk in advance and they will arrange a late arrival package for you.
Do guests receive complimentary wine tastings?
Bed & Breakfast guests enjoy exclusive winery benefits during their stay. Please check current lodging packages or contact us directly for details regarding tasting experiences and guest amenities.
How many guest rooms are available?
Chateau Chantal offers a collection of 12 thoughtfully appointed guest rooms and suites, each designed to provide comfort, privacy, and beautiful vineyard or bay views.
Are the guest rooms private?
Yes. All guest accommodations are private and include en-suite amenities designed to create a relaxing and comfortable retreat.
Is Wi-Fi available?
Yes. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the inn for guests who wish to stay connected during their visit.
Is the property smoke-free?
Yes. Chateau Chantal is a smoke-free property. We ask all guests to respect designated policies to ensure a pleasant experience for everyone.
Are children allowed at the Bed & Breakfast?
Yes, children are welcome as guests of the B&B. Rooms with suites offer a pull–out queen sofa and can accommodate up to 4 guests.
Are pets allowed in guest rooms?
While dogs are welcome in designated outdoor winery areas, pet policies for overnight accommodations differ. Please contact the Front Desk when booking to let them know if you are bringing an ADA service animal.
Do you offer special packages?

Can I book a room for a special occasion?
Whether you’re celebrating a honeymoon, anniversary, birthday, engagement, babymoon, retirement, or another special occasion, planning a relaxing getaway, or simply looking for an excuse to experience Northern Michigan wine country at its finest, we’d love to welcome you.
Do you host weddings or private events?
Yes. Chateau Chantal hosts private events, corporate gatherings, and special celebrations. Our vineyard setting and panoramic bay views provide an unforgettable backdrop for meaningful occasions.
What should I bring for my stay?
We recommend packing comfortable walking shoes, weather-appropriate layers, a camera to capture the breathtaking views, and your wine shipping information if you plan to take home a few bottles.
Most importantly, bring a sense of adventure and relaxation! Michigan weather can change quickly, especially near the water, so dressing in layers is always a good idea.
When is the best time to visit?

How do I make a reservation?

What is your deposit and cancellation policy?
All reservations require at least a 50% deposit. The full balance is due 14 days prior to your check-in date. All retail items and packages will be charged at the time of booking. Any changes or cancellations must be made at least 14 days prior to your arrival date. All changes of payment method or gift card must be called in prior to the 14 day policy of charges. All reservation changes will incur a $10.00 change fee. Any change of payment done after the final billing will incur a 2% fee per transaction. For cancellations that are made in accordance with our 14-day policy there is a $25.00 cancelation fee. Changes or cancellations made within the 14-day window will incur a minimum charge equal to the value of one night’s stay unless the room can be rebooked to a new guest.
Is there a minimum stay requirement?
Fridays & Saturdays are booked together year-round. These weekend nights cannot be split. One night stays are available on Sunday – Thursday evenings.
Can I arrive before check-in?
If you’re arriving early, you’re welcome to visit the winery and enjoy the property while your room is being prepared. Early room access may be available as occupancy allows.
Can I leave my luggage before check-in or after check-out?
Yes. If needed, we are happy to hold your luggage before check-in or after check-out so you can continue enjoying Old Mission Peninsula. Please be aware that luggage is stored in our public Front Desk area, and while our staff regularly monitor the space, they may be away assisting other guests. For that reason, we recommend keeping any valuables with you.
Do all rooms have private bathrooms?
Yes. Each guest room includes a private bathroom designed to provide comfort and convenience during your stay.
Are rooms equipped with hair dryers and toiletries?
Yes. Guest rooms include essential amenities such as hairdryers, basic toiletries, irons and ironing boards, all there to help make your stay comfortable and relaxing.
Which room has the best view?
Every room offers its own unique perspective of the vineyard, bays, or surrounding countryside. Guests seeking a particular view are encouraged to contact our team for personalized recommendations.
Do overnight guests receive winery benefits?
One of the advantages of staying at Chateau Chantal is convenient access to our winery, tasting room, and special events. Additional guest benefits may be available depending on the season and package selected. Wine discounts for B&B guests are increased over tasting room visitor guests.
Is parking included? Do you have any car chargers?
Yes. Complimentary parking is available for overnight guests.
We have a 2 port Chargepoint CT 4000 available for guests – usage is metered.

Do I need a car while staying on Old Mission Peninsula?
A vehicle is recommended to fully experience the peninsula and nearby Traverse City attractions. Transportation services are also available in the area for winery tours and special occasions.
