Whether you’re planning your first visit or you’re a returning guest, we’re excited to welcome you to Chateau Chantal. Below are answers to some of the most common questions about our tasting room and winery experiences.  

Do I need a reservation to visit the tasting room?

No. Walk-ins are always welcome in our tasting room during regular business hours. If you’d like to reserve a private experience, our Island Room and certain guided winery events require advance reservationsIf you have a group and can let us know you are coming in advance, please make a Courtesy Notice.

Yes! We offer a variety of ways to enjoy our wines, including flights, wines by the glass, and specialty seasonal beverages. Our knowledgeable team is happy to help you discover wines that match your tastes, whether you prefer dry, sweet, red, white, or sparkling selections We offer cocktails, beer, cider, mocktails, NA wines and beverages as well.  Prices start at $3 for spirit tastings and $9 for wine by the glass. 

Chateau Chantal produces more than 40 handcrafted wines, including Riesling, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, and other cool-climate varietals. Our wines range from dry to sweet and showcase the unique terroir of Michigan’s Old Mission Peninsula.

Absolutely. Guests may enjoy wines by the glass on our patios, terraces, and tasting room spaces while taking in panoramic views of East and West Grand Traverse Bay.  

Yes. We offer a rotating selection of charcuterie boards, Mediterranean platters, small plates, and locally sourced gourmet snacks. Menu offerings may vary seasonally, and availability is limited. Gluten-free options are available.  

Yes. Families are welcome to visit Chateau Chantal. We ask that children remain supervised at all times so that all guests can enjoy a relaxing winery experience. Guests under 21 may not consume alcohol. 

Yes. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome on our West PatioFor the comfort and safety of all guests, pets must remain under their owner’s control at all times.

Yes. Chateau Chantal welcomes groups and offers several options designed for larger parties. Groups of 25 or more can arrange pre-poured flight or glass experiences, and private event options may also be available. We recommend contacting us in advance so we can help create the best experience for your group. Contact Us

Perched atop one of the highest points on the peninsula, Chateau Chantal offers breathtaking views of both East and West Grand Traverse Bay.  

Chateau Chantal combines world-class winemaking, luxury lodging, beautiful vineyard landscapes, memorable events, and authentic Northern Michigan hospitality in one destination. Whether you’re joining us for a casual glass of wine, a sunset event, or a weekend getaway, our goal is to create an unforgettable Old Mission Peninsula experience.  

Weekday mornings/early afternoon generally provide the most relaxed experience. Peak visitation typically occurs on summer weekends and during fall color season. For a quieter visit, consider arriving earlier in the day. 

Most guests spend between 60 and 90 minutes enjoying a flight, a glass of wine, a charcuterie plate/snack and the vineyard views. Many visitors choose to linger longer on our patios while enjoying food and wine. 

Yes. Guests may enjoy wine indoors in our tasting room or outdoors on our scenic patios and terraces overlooking the vineyards and both East and West Grand Traverse Bay.  

3 wines are included in the flight.  We also offer wine by the glass, cocktails, mocktails, wine slushies, and NA wines and beverages. 

Whenever possible, we strive to help guests create an experience that matches their preferences. Ask one of our wine educators for recommendations based on your preferred styles. 

Yes. We offer a selection of non-alcoholic beverage options for designated drivers and guests who prefer not to consume alcohol including 4 alcohol removed wines and mocktails. 

Yes. Certain wines, limited releases, and small-production bottlings may be available exclusively through the winery and wine club.

Yes. We ship wine to many states across the country. Shipping availability is subject to state regulations and seasonal weather restrictions. We currently ship to the following states: AZ, CA, CO, DC, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KY, MI, MN, MO, NC, NH, NY, OH, PA, TX & WI. 

Outside food policies may vary depending on capacity, events, and food service offerings. We encourage guests to enjoy our charcuterie boards, small plates, and other food selections available for purchase.  

We do our best to offer options for a variety of dietary needs. Please ask a staff member about current vegetarian, gluten-free, and other available options.  

Yes. We welcome many transportation partners and tour groups. We recommend advance notice for larger groups so that we can provide the best possible experience. View all of our group offerings.

Guests are welcome to enjoy designated outdoor areas and vineyard views. For the protection of the vines and for safety reasons, we ask that guests remain on marked paths and public spaces unless participating in a guided tour.  Founders’ Trail Map
